Our guaranty

1. CompostEra guaranties that the bathroom will be odorfree as long as the fan is operating and the ventilation pipe is unobstructed (i.e. free of cobbwebs).

2. That the fecal matter will be contained inside the composting tank and not spill out through breakage due to manufacturing faults. If such spillage or leaks occur as a consequence of damage due to careless installation or physical damage not occuring as a direct result of manufacturing, this guaranty is void.

3. CompostEra also guaranties that the liquid exiting the composting tank, when the system is used as directed, adheres to U.S. bacterial standards for swimmable waters (<200 thermostable Coli per 100 ml). This is contingent upon the use of CompostEra's own starter bed (or of compostEra's explicit choice) and that the whole system including starter bed has been installed and mainatined according to instructions http://www.compostera.com/dryinstall/ and that the liquid has been given a free exit out of the composting tank at all times. This guaranty is void if the liquid for whatever reason is prevented from draining out (i.e. the exit valve has been closed or the pipe/hosedoes not allow for the liquid to freely drain out -- see diagram of the liquid drain in the instruction http://www.compostera.com/dryinstall/).

Carl Lindström, co-founder along with his parents of the first commercial composting toilet Clivus AB, which later became Clivus Multrum AB. The original patent stipulated that finished compost was to slide along a sloping bottom and appear as finished compost in the lowest point (CLIVUS means slope in latin). Furthermore it was thought all the liquid in the tank would evaporate. After many decades observations, we found that this did not happen. Instead the material shrinks aided by both micro and macro-organisms and can, because of the small residue after several years processing, stay isolated in the processtank for several decades. Of late a next generation of processtanks have been developed, taking less space and working with less maintenance and service than the older Clivus tanks. Carl works now like earlier with the US corporation Clivus Multrum USA Inc. In 2007 Carl founded CompostEra AB in Sweden with the sight set on solving the waste problems in the Swedish archipelago. These tanks are dimensioned to go for 30-50 years without removing solids.
